Getting Started

1. Accessing the Exporter in Jira

Once installed from the Atlassian Marketplace, you can access the application in two ways:

Global Navigation: Click on Apps → Issue Export in the top Jira Cloud navigation bar. This opens the full workspace with JQL search, Template Editor, and Export History.
Direct Issue Export: On any single Jira work item, open the issue actions menu (...) and select Export to PDF.

2. Exporting Issues via JQL

Enter your JQL query in the search bar (e.g. project = "PROJ" AND status = "Done" ORDER BY created DESC) or pick from saved filters and projects.
The system automatically validates your query and displays the total number of matched issues.
Choose a layout template (or use the default template).
Click Export to PDF. The export runs asynchronously in the background. A live progress indicator will show real-time generation status.
When ready, download the generated PDF directly to your device.

3. Customizing Templates

Switch to the Template Editor tab to create custom branded layouts:

Layout Modes: Choose List Mode for compact tabular data or Card Mode for detailed issue cards with descriptions, comments, and attachments.
Columns & Fields: Add or remove custom fields, reorder columns by dragging, and adjust column widths.
Page Settings: Select page size (A4, Letter, A3) and orientation (Portrait or Landscape).
Branding: Add custom document titles, author names, confidentiality watermarks (e.g., CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT), custom headers/footers, and upload your company logo for the cover page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many issues can I export at once?

Issue Export to PDF is specifically optimized for high-volume enterprise needs. It comfortably processes exports of 1,000 to 10,000+ issues in a single run. A built-in guard prevents out-of-memory errors before starting large jobs.

Is my Jira data secure and compliant?

Yes. The app is 100% built on Atlassian Forge (Zero Egress). Your ticket data, descriptions, and comments never leave Atlassian's secure cloud boundary and are never transmitted to external servers.

Can I re-download previous export files?

Yes. Go to the History tab in the global page. You can re-download recent export files within 24 hours of generation or re-run past exports with a single click.

Are Cyrillic and special characters supported in PDF?

Yes. The application has embedded full typography support with glyph coverage validation, ensuring Cyrillic, Latin-extended characters, and diacritics render cleanly without missing symbols.
